Zihuatanejo |
|
Often described as a sleepy fishing village, Zihuatanejo is a city that has grown to have all the conveniences but has managed to maintained a small-town charm. Walk through cobblestone streets downtown to find many wonderful restaurants, bars, boutiques and the local artisans market. Wander by the waterfront in El Centro and find the early morning activity at the fisherman's market and buy freshly caught fish or head over to the vibrant mercado to buy fresh fruit and groceries.
Relax at one of the restaurants lining the many local beaches or enjoy one of the many exciting activities such as para-sailing, surfing and world class deep sea fishing. Head over to Playa la Ropa and people watch at one of the many great restaurants that line the beach while listening to the surf. Catch a panga from the municipal pier over to Playa Las Gatas where the waters are quite calm and ideal for snorkeling.
There are a number of fantastic restaurants ranging from economical diners serving a local favorite tacos al pastor and stuffed potatoes to world class restaurants. Start your day off with a cup of locally grown and roasted coffee. Have fresh grilled snapper on the beach for lunch. End your day with a romantic candle lit dinner at one of the many restaurants overlooking the bay.
A short cab ride away is the sister city of Ixtapa. Here you'll find two 18 hole golf courses, several shopping centers, boutiques, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
